I am against this proposal as it seeks to cap target densities to below the threshold currently allowed. A city should be a living thing that is shaped by its people and their needs, rather then dictated from the top. This amendment seeks to instill further control by enshrining the bare minimum of the rights of the citizens that the city has to in order to be compliant with the state.
I would much rather see these rights returned to the people by removing density limits, and allowing them to accommodate the needs of the people as we continue to face this historic crisis of living.
Restricting density in this way only serves to hurt the city and those that live in it, both financially and socially.
Density increases tax revenue that is used to support our infrastructure needs, as well as alleviating the loneliness epidemic that has become all too common.
Furthermore, any issue that could be considered comorbid with higher densities, could easily be addressed by good civic policies, such as prioritization of public spaces, walkability, public transportation, and other social projects.
