A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF TORRANCE HONORING
POLICE LIEUTENANT
GREGORY TIDDLE
UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE CITY
AFTER TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE
WHEREAS, Gregory Tiddle began his law enforcement career with the Torrance Police Department as a Police Officer on August 11, 1999 , he was promoted to Police Sergeant on January 3, 2010, and was promoted to Police Lieutenant on May 13, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Greg has served in various assignments within the Torrance Police Department including Patrol Officer, Detective in Vice and Narcotics, Field Training Officer, Patrol Field Sergeant , Research and Training Sergeant, Area Commander, Community Affairs Division Commander, Patrol Coordinator , DUI Team, Bike Detail, South Bay Platoon, Gang Enforcement Team; and
WHEREAS, Greg embodied the Department ’s Core Values of Service, Pride, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence. Greg was determined and dedicated to his work , leading by examp le, staying firm and true to work principles but never losing sight of the human aspect, Greg could be relied upon to be consistent and fair yet showing he cared about the well-being of those around him; and
WHEREAS, Greg was regularly sought out by peers and coworkers for guidance , offering options and not judgement. Greg consistently supported the Police Unity Tour, organizing a team and multiple fundraisers, Greg also was a Tip-A-Cop Special Olympics Fundraiser participant and server. Greg’s actions were driven by a genuine desire to assist others, not by a need for recognition or praise; and
WHEREAS, Greg has received numerous letters of commendation from the Department and community members regarding his dedication, commitment, teamwork, investigative skills, officer safety tactics and professionalism. Commendations include, Torrance Police Department Commendation for Narcotic s Investigator, Immigration & Customs Enforcement Commendation for “Operation Paraisa,” Drug Enforcement Administration Commendation for “Operation Three -Hour Tour,” and Drug Enforcement Administration Commendation for “Operation Banshee.” Greg implemented and volunteered for the Nobility Program , applying the concept of “selflessness” to Core Values; and
WHEREAS, Greg has provided 25 years of dedicated service to the City of Torrance and has unselfishly used his many skills for the benefit of the Police Department and the citizens of Torrance.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Torrance, California, does hereby commend, honor, and congratulate POLICE LIEUTENANT
GREGORY ALAN TIDDLE
for his dedication, professionalism, and contributions to the City of Torrance while in our employ; and, be it further resolved, that he be wished a full and rewarding life in his retirement years.
