P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, Behavioral Health Services, Inc. is a nonprofit organization in Torrance that educates parents and youth on the harms and risks associated with alcohol and other drug use; and
WHEREAS, alcohol and drug abuse affect individuals, families, and communities across the nation; and
WHEREAS, it is imp erative that visible, unified efforts by community members continue to be launched to prevent substance abuse; and
WHEREAS, Red Ribbon W eek offers citizens the opportunity to dem onstrate their commitment to drug-free lifestyles; and
WHEREAS, Red Ribbon Week will be celebrated in communities across the nation on October 23rd through 31st; and
WHEREAS, businesses, government, law enforcement, media, health care providers, religious institutions, schools , and other community -based organizations will demonstrate their commitment to healthy , drug-free lifestyles by wearing red ribbons and participating in activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, G EORGE K. CHEN , as Mayor of the City of Torrance, California, do hereby proclaim October 23 to 31, 2025 as
RED RIBBON WEEK
in the City of Torrance and encourage all citizens to participate in dru g pre vention education activities, not only during Red Ribbon Week, but a lso throughout the year, making a visible statement that we are strongly committed to a drug-free lifestyle.
