P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, on November 10, 1775, the United States Marine Corps was established by the Second Continental Congress, and has for 250 years stood as a proud and unwavering force in the defense of our nation, serving with honor, courage, and dedication in times of peace and conflict; and
WHEREAS, the Marine Corps has played a vital role in safeguarding American freedoms, responding to the call of duty in every major conflict, and serving with distinction across land, sea, and air domains; and
WHEREAS, the Marine Corps embodies the highest principles of loyalty, discipline, and service, and its members both past and present have demonstrated extraordinary sacrifice and valor in the pursuit of liberty and justice for all; and
WHEREAS, the City of Torrance is home to veterans, active -duty personnel, reservists, and proud family members of the United States Marine Corps, whose service and dedication enrich our community and strengthen the fabric of our nation; and
WHEREAS, the Marine Corps’ dedication to excellence encompasses actions beyond the battlefield, including humanitarian missions, disaster relief operations, and community service initiatives that exemplify the Corps’ profound sense of duty to others and its steadfast commitment to making a meaningful difference both domestically and internationally; and
WHEREAS, on the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps, the City of Torrance joins communities across the nation in honoring the Marines for their remarkable legacy and expresses its deepest gratitude for their ongoing commitment to defending the United States of America.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, G EORGE K. CHEN , as Mayor of the City of Torrance, California, do hereby proclaim November 10, 2025 as
UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS DAY
in the City of Torrance and encourage all residents to honor the proud heritage and ongoing service of the United States Marine Corps on its 250th anniversary.
