Every time the Torrance Refinery flares, it makes the surrounding environs absolutely toxic for those of us with allergies, asthma, or any other breathing condition.
While this process is done as a way of disposing of gases and other chemicals, and is largely a byproduct of the industry, it is both a hazard to the health and well being of the community, and should motivate the city the look into better, more efficient, and safer sources of energy creation such as nuclear power.
