RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation of the City Manager and Fire Chief that City Council accept and appropriate $20,000 donation from Torrance Refining Company LLC for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

None required.
DISCUSSION
For the past several years, the Torrance Fire Department has been responsible for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program. The CERT Program educates community members about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact the area and trains the members in basic disaster response skills. The training consists of classroom instruction and exercises.
The Torrance Refining Company LLC would like to present the Torrance Fire Department with a $20,000 to the CERT Program. The Torrance Refining Company is committed to public safety and would like to ensure the residents are prepared in the event of a disaster.
Therefore, it is the recommendation of the City Manager and Fire Chief that City Council accept and appropriate this generous donation to the CERT Program. 1
