The proponent stated that all documents and reports have been submitted that were required by the city. She continued that photos indicate that the deck is the same level as the house and that the view was able to be demonstrated from multiple vantage points and so privacy impact would not be significant. She stated that they would continue working with the city.

Community Development Director Ramirez clarified that the applicant would still need to go through safety and meet all of the building code regulations separately. She continued that city staff has not reviewed those so there could be more requirements such as drainage.

Him and Senior Planner Oorts discussed how shrub height could be used and if there were recommendations for or against, or if a fence could be utilized.

Councilmember Mattucci argued that in looking at the before and after, then the deck is not adding much height at all. He stated that a permit and proper channels should have been used. Overall, he concluded that there has not been substantial adverse impacts from the additions. Councilmember Mattucci stated that he did not support the way it was done but respected that it follows the code.
