A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF TORRANCE HONORING
POLICE SERGEANT
RON SALARY
UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE CITY
AFTER TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS OF SERVICE
WHEREAS, Ron Salary began his law enforcement career with the Torrance Police Department as a Police Officer on January 25, 1999, and on June 29, 2014, he was promoted to Police Sergeant; and
WHEREAS, Ron served in various assignments within the Torrance Police Department.
As an Officer, Ron held the position of Patrol Officer, Crime Scene Investigator, Motor Officer, Field Training Officer, and worked in the Communications Division. Upon his promotion , Ron worked as a Field Sergeant and as a supervisor in the Personnel and Community Affairs Divisions. Ron also worked as the Chief’s Adjutant and the Public Information Officer; and
WHEREAS, Ron embodied the Torrance Police Department’s Core Values of Service, Pride, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence . During his tenure, one of Ron’s biggest accomplishments for the Department was to get P.O.S.T. to approve the in-house training of the state -mandated Principled Policing course. Ron was so committed and dedicated to this course that he became the lead Princi pled Policing instructor. As a result of Ron’s commitment, and tireless work ethic, the Department now has a strong template for the continued training of Department staff; and
WHEREAS, Ron received letters of commendation from the Department, citizens and other agencies for his professio nalism, leadership, and dedication . As the Department’s Public Information Officer , it is one’s responsibility to be honest and transparent . Ron embodied both traits and was also compassionate and respectful to everyone he encountered, whether it be on a call for service, or engaging with the public; and
WHEREAS, Ron provided 27 years of dedicated service to the City of Torrance and ha s unselfishly used his many skills for the benefit of the Police Department and the citizens of Torrance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Torrance, California does hereby commend, honor, and congratulate POLICE SERGEANT
RON SCOTT SALARY
for his dedication, professionalism, and contributions to the City of Torrance while in our employ; and, be it further resolved, that he be wished a full and rewarding life in his retirement years.
