RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation of the Civil Service Commission and Human Resources Director that City Council approve the proposed class specification for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Administrator.

DISCUSSION
On June 9, 2026, City Council adopted the proposed Fiscal Year 2026-27 Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Plan, which included the creation of a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Administrator classification in the Information Technology Department.
The proposed Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Administrator classification will perform professional and technical work in the administration, design, development, integration and support of the City’s GIS program. This position will serve as a senior technical resource for GIS platforms, databases, applications, integrations, automation, and related projects, and lead complex GIS initiatives.
A supplemental will be submitted to confirm approval of the proposed class specification by the Civil Service Commission at their meeting on October 12, 2026.
