To: Trinidad City Manager <[email protected]>, Gabe Adams <[email protected]> Hello City of Trinidad,
I live on Parker Creek Drive / Trail. I let my dog off leash in my neighborhood under my control. I leash her up if other people are around. I go back to my house if unleashed dogs are loose. I respect my neighbors and the place where I live.

Here in the City of Trinidad and our beaches unleashed dogs and their disrespectful owners are a menace. Not only to the people who live in my neighborhood but all of the residents and visitors in the City of Trinidad.

My job is extremely dangerous working alongside heavy equipment and highway traffic. That being said I usually do not walk anywhere in Trinidad because it is so dangerous due to off leash dogs and speeding cars. I go where leash laws are enforced and people are more respectful to each other. Storm damage in the area has forced me to try to walk in Trinidad for exercise. Big mistake.

Yesterday afternoon 1/9/2023 around 3:30pm. Once again, 5 large unleashed dogs came barking and running amok in our neighborhood down Parker Creek Road/Trail. I was leaving my yard with my leashed dog to go for a walk.

I asked the owners to put their dogs on leash. Instead, the owners were rude and they made it my fault. When the biggest dog, well over 100 pounds, came charging at me and my dog onto my property I tried to protect myself. The owners yelled and threatened me to not hit their dog!
These people did not have leashes.

Did not have poop bags.

Did not care about the people that live here or the place.

Do not care about Old Home Beach or the history of it.

They only care about themselves. THEY DID NOT APOLOGIZE. I am the villain.

My walk before it even started was ruined. I was tense, heart racing, and felt sick. At least we were not attacked by the dog owners or their dogs.

This morning I still feel sick about this. I am old but not elderly yet. My neighbors have health issues. We can not even walk in our neighborhood and have gates open to Workspace Webmail :: Print 1/10/23, 10:02 AM

My dog has been attacked 5 times. I have been bitten once. A couple of years ago I was almost knocked down by a loose german shepard charging at me when I had a broken ankle and was using crutches, IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD.

The City of Trinidad has no law enforcement to respond immediately to enforce the leash laws. Maybe it is time to consider banning dogs off of Trinidad beaches and trails? This situation is out of control. Solutions?
Thanks for your time,
Jacques Beaupre

Hazardous Walkway
While walking to downtown Trinidad on 1/7/2022 I slipped on a wet, very slippery silver colored metal grate on Trinidad property [according to GIS map] and hurt my back. I was able to keep walking and I fortunately saw a good samaritan (Councilor Katie) who gave me a ride home. She knows where the grate is: on the southern side between the overpass and the highway.

City Council: Please fix this hazard ASAP. The other grates around Trinidad are slip resistant, usually with a rubberized coating.

While my back continues to heal, there is a real danger that someone down the road will not be so fortunate. Falling is a leading cause of hip fractures and disability among elders.

Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter. It should be a simple, cost effective fix.
