I was informed there is a public meeting this evening in regards to the park proposal near Trinidad Library. I was also informed I could send an email to show my desire for this proposal to happen! Trinidad town has many children residing in it and a public park would be a perfect addition to the town. The location being next to the library is also perfect. As a mom of young children I understand the importance of having outdoor places for our children to run and be wild and free. Thank you for taking the time to read this email. It has been brought to my attention that you will be deciding on the viability of a playground being funded and built in Trinidad. I want to register my extreme enthusiasm for this proposal as a resident of Trinidad and a mother to two children who attend Trinidad School. Having to drive to another town to play on a playground has been one of the MAJOR downsides of living in Trinidad.
A community playground here would build just that, community. I’m sure the tourists with children would also very much stay longer, stop more frequently and enjoy our town and business more with a place to entertain their kids!!

To whom it may concern,
My name is Kate Thurston and I have been a resident of Trinidad for 4 years. I have 3 children who have all been in Trinidad elementary or salmonberry preschool.
I want to put my opinion forth in favor of creating a community playground. It would be very helpful in having a place to get together with other parents/kids besides the beach and trails. It feels like a waste of gas to drive to McKinleyville just to go to the playground and also I don’t love that they used recycled tires as the ground cover.

I was one of the people who originally helped seed the idea of a playground in Saunders park, and I am in FULL support of it. The Trinidad school playground is not available to children until after 5pm, and is sometimes closed on the weekends as well.
I see the benefits of the playground in Saunders park being:
1. A great support of local parents' and children's wellness
2. A draw for residents and non-residents to come to the Trinidad Library, Trinidad, and therefore support our businesses
3. Bring more enjoyment of Saunders park, the Library, and the Native Plant garden
4. Discourage vagrancy and encourage safety around this area of our town
5. Reduce vehicle emissions (Residents do not have to drive to another town to access a playground)
As someone who utilizes the Trinidad library frequently with my young child, it has always seemed like a great pairing. I have never seen anyone use the bocci court in my time there, except once.

I have lived a mile outside of downtown Trinidad for 16 years. I have an almost 8-year-old and sixyear-old. We have always dreamed of a playground in town that isn’t at the school because it’s not always available to us during school hours/summertime.
When my children were younger before they started school, we had to drive to Mckinleyville for the closest playground. And a public location in our town would be an absolute life changer for parents with young kids. And to have a place to hang out with other families aside from the school property would be wonderful. And perhaps if there was more families occupying the space by the library there would be less people There I don’t want interacting with my children, screaming at us and drinking and doing drugs. Thank you.

I think a public play ground in Trinidad would be great for all of our children in this community. I know they have excess to our ocean and beaches but it is very healthy for our children to be able to do pull ups, swinging from ring to ring, and being able to play with other children in a little more structured environment. Dear Trinidad city Council members,
I am writing to support the plans for a playground in the Trinidad area. Although it is wonderful that the school allows us access to their playground, this is not always available when school is in session or over the summer when they have summer camp. Having another safe location for our kids to gather and play without driving out of the area would be a great benefit as well as great for community building. Additionally, I would love to see this playground include input from the Trinidad Rancheria and include a natural design with traditional art Thank you Jack and all for your work on this project.
