Public Comment (?)
Dear Truckee Town Council,

7.3 Please support the new Truckee Library. The town of Truckee is in need of an improved, modern library. As a volunteer for Friends of the Truckee Library, I helped conduct some of the community outreach/feedback. Community members from all ages and backgrounds were very enthusiastic about the project. Everyone I spoke with said it would enhance the community and that it was much needed. I had several people say how vital the current library is to them as a resource, but how much better a new, larger library would be for accessing resources and addressing their needs. Several mentioned that the library was their sole source of internet access. The new library will offer more opportunity for so many people. It will be ADA compliant, have permanent back- up power along with modern communication capability.

I gained a unique perspective over the summer as I participated in a Tahoe Donner community garage sale. I specified that all funds raised at my site would be matched by us towards the new library. I raised five times more than I expected. Most noteworthy it was members of the community with the least income to spare who universally gave the most. All stated that they would love a new library. Kids with a few dollars or cents chose to put them in the library funds jar and forego a "treasure." It was clear that the community supported the dream of a new library. Please support the new library. It will be a much used and much loved community resource for our very special town.

Sincerely,
Jeanne Chiodo
