Animal Control has joined with San Diego Humane Society and Best Friends Society to purchase an isolation center. This isolation center is going to be donated by these two groups to our Animal Shelter. He commented that a group of our employees identified a solution to help haul dumped tires that the City has collected. A licensed hauler was hired that was 50% cheaper than what the City typically pays, and they hauled away five hundred tires. He mentioned the Juneteenth event and the flag raising ceremony, saying that they were both great events and well attended, Park and Recreation is having a 4th of July event at Knott's Sky Park from 6pm to 9pm, a "Freedom Daze" event is taking place at Freedom Plaza from July 4-6th, organized by JT City Limits, offering 35 local rock bands, food and merchandise.
He commented on "World Blood Donor Day" that was held recently in our city. The Blood Bank's goal was thirty-six units and that was exceeded. Finally, he added that the Nomination Period to run for City Council begins Monday, July 15, 2024, and goes through Thursday, August 8, 2024.
