• Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD)
Created by the State Legislature, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District is the public agency entrusted with regulating stationary sources of air pollution in the 9 Bay Area counties. The Air District is governed by a 22-member Board of Directors composed of locally elected officials from each of the 9 Bay Area counties. The number of board members from each county is proportionate to its population. The Board oversees policies and adopts regulations for the control of air pollution within the district. The Board appoints the Air District’s Executive Officer/Air Pollution Control Officer, who implements Board policies and gives direction to staff and District Counsel. The Air District is assisted by an Advisory Council made up of 20 representatives from community, health, environmental, and other organizations.
District Board of Directors meetings are held on the 1
st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 9:45 a.m., in San Francisco. • San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) BCDC is a federally-designated state coastal management agency for the San Francisco Bay segment of the California coastal zone, and is dedicated to the protection and enhancement of the San Francisco Bay and to the encouragement of the Bay's responsible use.
BCDC is composed of 27 members appointed by the Governor, Legislators, Federal and State Agencies, and includes appointments from the boards of supervisors of each of the 9 Bay Area counties as well as appointments from the Association of Bay Area Governments.
Commission meetings are held in the afternoon on the 1
st and 3rd Thursday of each month, alternating meeting locations between San Francisco and Oakland.
