How many years have you been a resident of
Union City?
1 Are you a registered voter in Union City? Yes
What is your District of Residency? 3
Have you attended any meetings of the
commission/board for which you are applying?
No
Are you a resident of Union City? Yes
What is your artistic focus? I am a cartoonist with experience with traditional and digital mediums
Why do you want to be a Board/Commission/
Committee member? What do you feel you could
contribute?
I strongly feel that the most important part about
being a human in the modern world is
community. It's important to know your
neighbor's name and to invest in the area and
people around you. I hold many passions amd
hobbies and talents, but there is nothing greater
than my excitement for how people throve when
working together. This enthusiasm, alongside
many practical skills aquired from indulging in
that joy, is what I feel I can proudly contribute to
any commission.
What qualifies you for this appointment? I am well versed in communication and problem solving, a prowess I have nurtured from a very
young age. I have years of experience with
public speaking, event planning, and rallying for
and with my community. I hold many
certifications within mental and behavioral health,
and I am extremely tech literate.
What is your vision for the committee/
commission you are applying to?
My vision is to ensure that Union City is able to
embrace its position as a more diverse, friendly
pocket of Alameda while living up to its name. I
want to maintain faith in the act of reaching out to
your community in good faith. I hope to enable
our city to be somewhere you know your
neighbor's name and their impact on the world.
Increased trust and participation in local affairs
will result in heightened participation in local
commerce as well. We can feel better buying
from the human beings we know rather than the
faceless corporations we've only heard of. When
How does this vision support the Council’s
priorities as stated in the 5-Year Strategic Plan?
people are paying attention and pitching in on the
policies made regarding their home, the policies
will be more effective, practical, and happily
adopted. Knowing the stories the people we
coexist with makes it exponentially more difficult
to wrong them and encourages peoples to reach
out to alternative solutions instead of resorting to
crime or actions that go against the nature of
safety. When we speak to each other,
acknowledge each other, hear each other, we
become a much stronger community. My vision
doesn't just support the council's priorities, it is
intertwined with amd necessitates them.

compensation from the City for work performed?

No
I am deeply committed to our community and
actively involved in serving through multiple nonprofits. My work with organizations such as the Why do you want to be a Board/Commission/
Committee member? What do you feel you could
contribute?
Chamber of Commerce, the New Haven Schools
Foundation, and the Fun Rotary Club has
already provided opportunities to collaborate with
members of the Human Relations Commission.
By joining the Commission, I believe I can
contribute to creating greater synergy between
the non-profits I serve and the community as a
whole. My experience with these organizations
has equipped me to support the Commission's
activities and further its mission of fostering a
more connected and inclusive community.
What qualifies you for this appointment? I am a lifelong resident of Union City and a product of its school system, which has given me
a deep understanding of and connection to the
community. I am well-acquainted with many of
the city's residents and often serve as a resource
for them when they need information or
assistance with city-related matters, such as
projects or events. I actively stay informed about
the city's activities and have firsthand experience
with the work of the Human Relations
Commission through my involvement in
organizing events. For example, with the New
Haven Schools Foundation, I contribute to the
success of the annual gala, and through the
Chamber of Commerce, I helped launch the
Taste of the City event, which has become a selfsustaining initiative. These experiences have equipped me with the skills to connect with
individuals and organize impactful events, which
I believe are central to the mission of the Human
Relations Commission.
My vision for the Human Relations Commission
is to foster stronger collaboration between the
business sector, non-profits, and the city to
enhance Union City's footprint as a vibrant,
connected community. One common concern I
What is your vision for the committee/
commission you are applying to?
hear from residents is that they often need to
leave town for entertainment or shopping.
Through my work with the Chamber of
Commerce, I actively encourage the growth of
unique and appealing businesses in Union City,
while also collaborating with council members to
share insights on emerging trends and
community needs.
Another key part of my vision is to expand
community events and celebrations that bring
people together. Initiatives like the night markets
showcase the potential for engaging and
meaningful activities right here in our city. For
example, the Chamber recently collaborated with
a member of the Commission to organize a
Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Smith
Street. Similarly, events like the Day of the Dead
celebration for Halloween highlight the cultural
richness of our community.
By leveraging my experience and connections, I
aim to support the Commission in creating more
opportunities for residents to enjoy high-quality
events and experiences within Union City,
strengthening both our community ties and local
economy.
My vision aligns closely with the Council's FiveYear Strategic Plan by addressing several key priorities:
Community Development
My focus on fostering community events and
collaborations supports the goal of enhancing
community development. Through initiatives that
educate residents about new services, city
programs, and business developments, I aim to
ensure that residents feel informed and engaged.
How does this vision support the Council’s
priorities as stated in the 5-Year Strategic Plan?
For example, many residents often express
curiosity about new businesses opening in town,
and I see opportunities to better communicate
these developments to keep the community
informed and connected.
Communication and Outreach
I plan to support the Strategic Plan’s goal of
strengthening outreach and community
education about city services. The Human
Relations Commission’s booth at events, such as
the St. Anne’s Fair, serves as a strong example
of how outreach efforts can connect residents to
valuable resources. Building on such efforts, I
aim to expand the reach and effectiveness of city
communication initiatives.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
My vision includes fostering equity and inclusion
by ensuring city-wide communications are
accessible and inclusive for all residents. By
leveraging my connections through various nonprofits and community groups, I can help bridge gaps between diverse communities and city
initiatives. My broad network enables me to
promote public materials and ensure city updates
reach a wide audience.
Overall, my vision reinforces the Council’s
priorities by building stronger community
connections, enhancing communication, and
promoting inclusivity to ensure that Union City
thrives as a cohesive and engaged community.
Are you currently receiving any form of
