RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNION CITY
AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO ROSAS BROTHERS
CONSTRUCTION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $539,954, FOR THE ANNUAL
SIDEWALK, CURB & GUTTER, AND RAMP REPAIR PROJECT, CITY
PROJECT NO. 25-03, AND APPROVING A TOTAL CONSTRUCTION
BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $647,945
WHEREAS, on July 18, 2025, plans and specifications for the Annual Sidewalk, Curb & Gutter, and Ramp Repair Project were released and advertised for bid as the 2025 Sidewalk, Curb & Gutter Replacement Project, with Rosas Brothers Construction of Oakland, California, being deemed the lowest responsible bid in the amount of $539,954 (see Exhibit A); and
WHEREAS, a review of the firm’s qualification shows Rosas Brothers Construction to be an experienced and appropriately licensed contractor and, as such, the Public Works Director recommends that it is in the City’s best interest to award the Annual Sidewalk, Curb & Gutter, and Ramp Repair Project to Rosas Brothers Construction; and WHEREAS, the recommended construction budget, which consists of the construction contract amount, construction contingency, and construction support, is $647,945; and
WHEREAS, funds for the Annual Sidewalk, Curb & Gutter, and Ramp Repair Project, City Project No. 25-03, are identified in the approved Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan for Fiscal Years 2025-2026 to 2029-2030. The construction costs will be funded with $147,945 of State Gas Tax funds (Account No. 25092503-57128), $150,000 of SB 1 Road Maintenance & Rehab funds (Account No. 25192503-57128), and $350,000 of Measure BB Bike & Pedestrian funds (Account No. 26792503-57128).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Union City hereby awards a construction contract to Rosas Brothers Construction, in the amount of $539,954, for the Annual Sidewalk, Curb & Gutter, and Ramp Repair Project, City Project No. 25-03; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Union City hereby authorizes the construction budget, with contingencies and construction support, in the amount of $647,945, for the Annual Sidewalk, Curb & Gutter, and Ramp Repair Project, City Project No. 25-03.
