Hello,
My name is Brian Evans and a resident of Aptos CA. I grew up in Union City and lived there from 1973 to 1989. I went to Logan High and played baseball there. I also was involved with the Union City National Little League for many years.

I want to make a public comment regarding the mural for the Decoto district. I have very fond memories of my time in Union City and knew a lot of friends from the Decoto Neighborhood.

The people were very loyal and contributed a lot to the legacy of Union City history. The neighborhood had a strong work ethic, the people volunteered in the community and also helped disadvantaged teens with learning a valued trade.

I believe the mural will be beneficial and necessary for Union City's legacy and the neighborhood. A majority of the individuals in the neighborhood have left but I believe the mural should be a fabric of the local community at large. The legacy of Decoto should not be taken for granted. Even though I did not reside in the community, the Decoto legacy was strong as it fostered my love for the community in general. Because of Decoto and the neighborhood, I have volunteered in my own community for over 20 years as a little league volunteer.

I believe the mural should be erected and be displayed for all community members as well as for any visitors that come to Union City.

Sincerely,
Brian Evans
