RESOLUTION NO. 2025-XXX
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNION CITY
APPOINTING SUBRU BHAT TO SERVE AS TRUSTEE ON THE
ALAMEDA COUNTY MOSQUITO ABATEMENT DISTRICT BOARD OF
TRUSTEES FOR A FOUR-YEAR TERM EXPIRING DECEMBER 31, 2029 WHEREAS, the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District (“District”) is governed by a Board of Trustees (“Board”) consisting of fourteen members, thirteen of whom are appointed by the city council for each of the incorporated cities within the District, and one appointed by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors representing the County-at-large; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees establishes general policies for the District, employs the General Manager, approves the annual budget, and oversees the expenditure of funds necessary to protect public health and control mosquito populations within the County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Union City is a participating member of the District and is entitled to appoint one representative to serve as a Trustee on the Board; and WHEREAS, Mayor Singh, with the concurrence of the City Council, has recommended the reappointment of Mr. Subru Bhat to continue serving as Union City’s representative to the Board; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bhat currently serves a term expiring January 1, 2026, and the District has requested that the City reappoint him for a four-year term consistent with the District’s governance structure; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bhat has expressed his willingness to continue serving and has demonstrated ongoing commitment to the mission and work of the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Union City that Subru Bhat is hereby reappointed to serve as the City’s representative on the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District Board of Trustees for a four-year term commencing January 1, 2026, and expiring December 31, 2029.
