Project Description:

The ALAMEDA CTC Administered Funds obligated by this AGREEMENT will be used to construct over 2.4 miles of new bike lanes in each direction on Union City Boulevard, from the southern City limits to Smith Street.

There are three specific construction related elements, as further described below, included as part of this PROJECT.

These Task 1 improvements are not eligible for reimbursement with the ALAMEDA CTC Administered Funds obligated by this AGREEMENT.

Construction Task 2 - Union City Blvd Bike Lanes Phase 2 This construction task includes reconstruction/widening of the median island for the new bike facilities, slurry pavement, striped road for buffer Class II bike lanes, modification of traffic signals, and bikefocused improvements from the southern City limits to 600 feet south of Alvarado Boulevard.

The project will also provide improved access to Delaine Eastin Elementary School on Rocklin Drive by constructing a dedicated right-turn lane on southbound Union City Boulevard to the school and a new Class I bikeway within the sidewalk area allowing students and families to walk or bike to school.

Project improvements also include reconstructing the existing landscape median to accommodate the new bike lanes, modifying the intersections at various locations, signage and restriping of the pavement and construction staging.

ALAMEDA CTC Administered Funds obligated by this AGREEMENT for Task 2 will include Measure BB, CMA TIP funds, and TFCA funds.

Construction Task 3 - Complete Streets, Phase 3
This Task 3 includes extending the project north to Smith St. on Union City Boulevard. This will create connectivity to a future Bay Trail access point off Horner St. Additionally, the Project includes adding intersection complete streets & ADA improvements, and enhanced traffic signals and enhanced streetlighting on the Union City Blvd corridor. Improvements will be constructed in the following areas:
• Enhanced street light systems from the southern City limits to Smith St. • Complete Streets & Traffic Signal improvements at intersections of: Lowry Rd., Rocklin Dr., Delores Dr., Dyer St., Jean St., Regents Blvd., Alvarado Blvd., Horner St., and Smith St.

ALAMEDA CTC Administered Funds obligated by this AGREEMENT for Task 3 will include $1.751 million in Measure BB funds.
