RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNION CITY
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE FIRST
AMENDMENT TO THE CONSULTING SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH
URBAN37, INC. FOR BUILDING DIVISION SUPPORT, IN A FORM
APPROVED BY THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO INCREASE THE
AGREEMENT AMOUNT BY $425,500 FOR A TOTAL NOT TO EXCEED
AMOUNT OF $500,000, AND TO EXTEND THE AGREEMENT TERM TO JUNE 30, 2028
WHEREAS, third-party consultants are utilized by the Building Division to support its operations, including staff augmentation to cover temporary staffing shortages, such as when a position is vacant, a staff member is on leave, or there is a temporary uptick in activity. The City also utilizes consultants to provide access to external professional resources needed to provide technical expertise and conduct complex plan review and inspection services while adhering to the service timelines of the Building Division; and WHEREAS, on September 2, 2025, the City entered into a Consulting Services Agreement (“Agreement”) with Urban37, Inc. (C26ECD1161) to provide Building Division support, including plan checking services; and
WHEREAS, staff is requesting to increase the amount of the existing Agreement by $425,500, which would bring the not-to-exceed amount of the Agreement to $500,000, and to extend the Agreement term to June 30, 2028; and
WHEREAS, approval of the updated agreement amount and term will allow Urban37 staff to continue supporting the Building Division without service disruptions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Union City that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the first amendment to the Agreement, in a form approved by the City Attorney, with Urban37, Inc., to increase the amount of the existing Agreement by $425,500, which would bring the not to exceed amount of the Agreement to $500,000 for Building Division support, and to extend the Agreement term to June 30, 2028.
