RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNION CITY
ACCEPTING COMPLETION OF THE CITYWIDE FULL TRASH
CAPTURE DEVICE INSTALLATION PROJECT, CITY PROJECT NO. 25- 11 AND AUTHORIZING RELEASE OF THE RETENTION PAYMENT TO
UNITED STORM WATER, INC.
WHEREAS, on April 22, 2025, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2025-049, awarding a construction contract to United Storm Water, Inc., in the amount of $133,641, and approving a construction budget, with contingency, in the amount of $153,688, for the Citywide Full Trash Capture Device Installation Project, City Project No. 25-11; and WHEREAS, the contractor has completed the project in accordance with the project plans and specifications (Exhibit A); and
WHEREAS, the project scope consisted of the manufacture and install of Full Trash Capture Devices (FTCDs) within the public right-of-way, including 80 connector pipe screen (CPS) devices and 7 hanging basket devices, to advance the City’s compliance with the 100% trash reduction requirement, as well as other related work indicated and required by the plans and standard specifications (Exhibit B); and WHEREAS, the project was completed on January 12, 2026, and all final project punch-list items have now been resolved with the contractor; and WHEREAS, said project is funded with funds from the FY 2023-2024 Allied Waste Street Restoration Fund (Fund 262, Account No. 262-92322-54111) as identified in the Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for FY 2023-2024 through FY 2027-2028, and sufficient funds are available within said funds to accept this project NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Union City does hereby accept the project in the final amount of $146,544 for the Citywide Full Trash Capture Device Installation Project, City Project No. 25-11.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of Union City be directed to record the Notice of Completion with the Office of the County Recorder of Alameda County, California; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Union City hereby authorizes the City to make a final retention payment, in the amount of $7,327.20, to United Storm Water, Inc., for the completion of improvements of City Project No. 25-11 in accordance with the plans and specifications on file at the Office of the Public Works Director.
