RESOLUTION NO. 2026-XXX
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNION CITY
CREATING AN ALTERNATE MEMBER POSITION FOR THE
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY TEAM AND APPOINTING
CHIOMA CHUKS-ORJI AS THE ALTERNATE MEMBER
WHEREAS, the Economic Development Advisory Team (EDAT) advises the City Council on factors affecting businesses and the economic health of the community; and WHEREAS, EDAT’s current composition includes two (2) Councilmembers, one (1) Planning Commissioner, one (1) business representative, one (1) Chamber of Commerce representative, and two (2) residents; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to support continuity of EDAT operations through the creation of an Alternate Member position; and WHEREAS, on February 25, 2025, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2025- 029 to standardize appointment and expiration dates for new appointments to all boards, commissions, and committees; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to California Government Code § 40605, the Mayor has the authority to appoint members to boards, commissions, and committees, subject to the approval of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the current composition of EDAT includes:
• Two (2) Councilmembers,
• One (1) Planning Commission representative,
• One (1) business representative,
• One (1) Chamber of Commerce representative; and
• Two (2) residents
WHEREAS, the Mayor has recommended that a new position be established for an Alternate Member to attend EDAT meetings when there is an absence or vacancy; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor has recommended the appointment of Chioma Chuks-Orji to serve as the Alternate Member for EDAT;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Union City that:
1. The City Council hereby creates one (1) Alternate Member position for the Economic Development Advisory Team (EDAT);
2. The City Council hereby approves the Mayor’s appointment of Chioma Chuks-Orji to serve as Alternate Member of EDAT for a term commencing January 1, 2026 and expiring December 31, 2029, consistent with Resolution No. 2025-029; and Resolution No. 2026-XXX

3. The City Clerk is directed to update the City’s official Boards, Commissions, and Committees rosters accordingly.
