RESOLUTION NO. 2026-XXX
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
UNION CITY APPROVING THE UNION CITY TRANSIT AND
PARATRANSIT TITLE VI PROGRAM
WHEREAS, public transit operators receiving Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funds are required to submit, periodically, a Title VI Program to continue receiving FTA funds; and
WHEREAS, as a recipient of FTA funds, the City of Union City, operating Union City Transit and Paratransit, is required to provide a Title VI Program sixty (60) days prior to its expiration; and
WHEREAS, on September 3, 2024, the City of Fremont awarded a contract for a multi-year pilot same-day wheelchair accessible van (WAV) service to Via Transportation, Inc., commencing on January 1, 2025, and removed Ride-On Tri-City! from the option years in Union City Transit’s Agreement with MV Transportation, Inc.; and WHEREAS, Union City Transit and Paratransit’s current Title VI Program expires on March 31, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Title VI Program provides Union City Transit and Paratransit a program that ensures no person will be excluded from participation or subject to discrimination in the level and quality of transit services or related benefits provided by the City of Union City based on race, color, or national origin (Exhibit A); and WHEREAS, the Title VI Program has been duly reviewed by the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Union City hereby approves the Union City Transit and Paratransit Title VI Program.
