RESOLUTION NO. 2026-XXX
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNION CITY
APPOINTING A REGULAR MEMBER AND AN ALTERNATE MEMBER
TO THE PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
WHEREAS, the Park and Recreation Commission is an advisory body established pursuant to the Union City Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, an unscheduled vacancy occurred on the Park and Recreation Commission due to the automatic removal of a commissioner under the Union City Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, on February 25, 2025, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2025- 029 to standardize the appointment and expiration dates for new appointments to City boards, commissions, and committees to align with the calendar year; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Union City Municipal Code Section 2.20.030, the Mayor is authorized to appoint members to City boards, commissions, and committees, including both regular and alternate members, subject to confirmation by the City Council; and WHEREAS, alternate commissioners do not automatically succeed to vacant regular seats, and vacancies for both regular and alternate positions must be filled through a formal appointment by the Mayor with City Council approval; and WHEREAS, the Mayor has recommended appointments to fill the vacant regular seat and an alternate seat on the Park and Recreation Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Union City hereby:
1. Approves the Mayor’s appointment of Adrian Hipolito to the Park and Recreation Commission to serve a term commencing on the date of adoption of this resolution and expiring December 31, 2029.
2. Approves the Mayor’s appointment of Inderjeet Bhambra as an Alternate Member to the Park and Recreation Commission to serve a term commencing on the date of adoption of this resolution and expiring December 31, 2029.
3. Directs the City Clerk to update the City’s official Boards, Commissions, and Committees roster accordingly.
