PROCLAMATION
Recognizing March 2026 as
American Red Cross Month
WHEREAS, the American Red Cross has served communities across the United States for more than a century, providing relief, comfort, and hope to people facing emergencies and disasters; and
WHEREAS, volunteers, donors, and supporters of the American Red Cross help ensure that families affected by disasters receive shelter, food, and assistance when they need it most; and
WHEREAS, the American Red Cross also helps maintain a safe and reliable blood supply for hospitals, supports military members, veterans, and their families, and provides training in lifesaving skills such as first aid, CPR, and AED use; and WHEREAS, in Alameda County, more than 2,200 volunteers support the mission of the American Red Cross by responding to local disasters, assisting families in need, installing smoke alarms to make homes safer, organizing blood drives, and providing training to thousands of residents each year; and
WHEREAS, the work of the American Red Cross reflects the spirit of compassion and service that strengthens communities and reminds us that helping one another in times of need is a shared responsibility; and
WHEREAS, recognizing American Red Cross Month is an opportunity to thank the volunteers, donors, and partners who support this vital humanitarian mission in our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gary Singh, Mayor of the City of Union City, on behalf of the entire City Council, do hereby proclaim March 2026 as American Red Cross Month in the City of Union City and encourage all residents to recognize and support the important humanitarian work of the American Red Cross.
