RESOLUTION NO. 2026-XXX
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
CONSULTING SERVICES AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF
UNION CITY AND DAVID L. GATES AND ASSOCIATES, INC., IN A
FORM APPROVED BY THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR ON-CALL
LANDSCAPE CONSULTING SERVICES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $300,000
WHEREAS, Consultant firms provide the necessary technical expertise to ensure that project landscaping and irrigation are consistent with applicable City and State standards. The Planning Division has historically retained qualified landscape architecture consultant firms to review proposed landscape plans for larger development projects subject to the MWELO requirements; and
WHEREAS, David L. Gates and Associates, Inc. is an established landscape architecture firm that has provided consulting services to the City. The City has previously engaged the firm for a variety of landscape-related projects and is proposing an on-call agreement for landscape plan review services.
WHEREAS, the firm’s familiarity with the City’s standards, procedures, and design requirements will allow for efficient, consistent, and timely review of landscape plans the City routinely processes. Establishing an on-call agreement will also streamline administrative processes, thereby improving overall efficiency in consultant management; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with David L. Gates and Associates, Inc., in a form approved by the City Attorney, for on-call landscape consulting services in an amount not to exceed $300,000; and
WHEREAS, the consultant’s scope of work, labeled Exhibit A, is attached hereto and made a part hereof.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Union City hereby authorizes the City Manager to enter into a consulting services agreement with David L. Gates and Associates, Inc., in a form approved by the City Attorney, for oncall landscape consulting services, in an amount not to exceed $300,000.
