14. Description of Overall Project:

15. Project Scope Proposed for Funding: (Project level environmental, preliminary planning, and ROW are ineligible uses of TDA funds.)
Union City through the adoption of its Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan in 2021 identified Arizona Street as a potential corridor for implementation of a bicycle boulevard. The project was officially put into Public Works’ 5-year Capital Improvement Plan for 2025-2029 and was prioritized due to the requirements of a parallel project funded by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission starting in 2025. The Arizona Street Bicycle Boulevard Project became a requirement through MTC’s complete streets checklist and would become an alternate parallel route for all ages and abilities. The project will convert conventional 2-way local collector running from Royal Ann Dr. to Hop Ranch Rd. into a roadway with Class 2 bike lanes with striping improvements to improve overall safety. These additional improvements include: centerline striping, pedestrian high visibility crosswalks, pavement resurfacing, and wayfinding signage.

Additional TDA 3 funding will be used towards total construction but also expansion of project scope to include much needed improvements on adjacent route connections for pedestrians and cyclists.

Construction for implementation of roadway striping, multi-use path surface, wayfinding signage, and ped & bicycle safety improvements in addition to roadway resurfacing.
