Dear Barry Ferrier Family,
I have been the Economic Development Manager for Union City for twelve years and served as staff to the Economic Development Advisory Team, of which Barry was a dedicated member. During that time, I could always count on Barry to attend every meeting and to share his thoughts - not only about what we were doing well, but even more so about what he believed we could be doing better.
I am especially grateful to Barry's son for driving him all over Silicon Valley, because Barry always arrived with updates and observations about what was happening in neighboring communities. After each meeting, we could count on him to stay behind and continue sharing insights and ideas that had not been covered during the discussion. My only gesture of appreciation was sending him home with leftover cookies from our lunches to share with his wife. Barry's smile in response always made me happy.
For many years, Barry advocated for the city to hire a second economic development staff person, and I was truly grateful for his support. Two years ago, that finally happened, he was pleased.
