RESOLUTION NO. 2026-XXX
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNION CITY ACCEPTING A $6,000 DONATION FROM SC SERVICES, LLC,
AFFILIATED WITH APPIAN WAY LAND HOLDINGS, LLC, FOR THE
LARRY OROZCO TEEN BIKE WORKSHOP
WHEREAS, the Larry Orozco Teen Bike Workshop, located at 33623 Mission Boulevard, has served the Union City community for several decades and continues to be used for community-serving purposes; and
WHEREAS, on February 24, 2026, the City Council received a report regarding the structural condition, hazardous materials findings, and cost estimate for required remediation and repairs of the Larry Orozco Teen Bike Workshop; and WHEREAS, the City Council received a preliminary cost estimate for comprehensive renovation and abatement of the Larry Orozco Teen Bike Workshop totaling $684,717; and
WHEREAS, on March 24, 2026, the City Council formed the Larry Orozco Teen Bike Workshop Ad Hoc Subcommittee to support development of a phased funding and implementation plan for the facility; and
WHEREAS, SC Services, LLC, affiliated with Appian Way Land Holdings, LLC, has provided a $6,000 donation to the City for the Larry Orozco Teen Bike Workshop; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 4336-12 established the City’s policy governing the accounting for donated funds and authorizes donations up to $5,000 to be accepted without City Council action, with subsequent notification to the City Council; and WHEREAS, the donation exceeds the $5,000 administrative acceptance threshold and therefore requires City Council acceptance; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to accept the $6,000 donation, for the Larry Orozco Teen Bike Workshop.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Union City hereby accepts a $6,000 donation from SC Services, LLC, affiliated with Appian Way Land Holdings, LLC, for the Larry Orozco Teen Bike Workshop project; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the $6,000 donation will be kept in account 11200000-24129 [Trust & Deposit Fund, Larry Orozco Teen Bike Workshop Donations] along with any future donations.
