PROCLAMATION
In Recognition of June 2026 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month
WHEREAS, the City of Union City values the dignity, visibility, and inclusion of all residents, and proudly recognizes the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and other gender-diverse members of our community; and
WHEREAS, Pride Month is observed each June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City, a key moment that helped spark the LGBTQ+ civil rights movement in the United States and around the world; and WHEREAS, LGBTQ+ individuals have made lasting contributions to the cultural, economic, civic, and social life of our city and nation, helping build a more vibrant and compassionate society; and
WHEREAS, Union City reaffirms its commitment to standing against hate, bias, and discrimination, and remains dedicated to fostering a welcoming and supportive community for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions; and
WHEREAS, the Pride Flag is a symbol of hope, unity, and strength, and flying it in June reflects our shared commitment to equality, respect, and inclusion for all.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of Union City does hereby proclaim the month of June 2026 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in the City of Union City, and further recognize that on June 1, 2026, the City will raise the Pride Flag, flying it throughout the month of June to honor all LGBTQ+ residents whose enduring contributions enrich our vibrant community.
