Dear Mayor Singh and Councilmen,
I am a resident of District 3 in Union City.
I urge this Council to reintroduce the ordinance or take the strengthened draft resolution on tonight's agenda and bring our Compassionate City Resolution into law — to restrict the use of City- owned and City-controlled property for federal civil immigration enforcement. Codifying these protections into the Municipal Code makes them lasting and enforceable law, not just a statement of intent.
Passing this ordinance does not provide false hope - it gives families a fighting chance. It creates real barriers to harmful enforcement. It shows you are prepared to use the authority of local government to protect the people you represent.
Please convert the resolution and pass as an ordinance. Thank you. --
