CITY OF UNION CITY
PROCLAMATION
Recognizing July 2026 as
Park and Recreation Month
WHEREAS, parks and recreation staff, volunteers, and community partners throughout this country, including the City of Union City have an integral role in advancing this year’s Park and Recreation month theme which celebrates the Power of Connections, Play, Community, Nature, and Belonging through enrichment classes, recreation programming, youth sports, special events, public spaces, and other opportunities that that enrich lives and strengthen communities; and
WHEREAS, parks, recreation programs, community centers, and facilities foster relationship building, cultural exchange, civic pride, community bonding, healthy living, and lifelong learning; and
WHEREAS, we acknowledge and celebrate the dedication of our Community and Recreation Services (CRS) Department staff, volunteers, and partners who are the heart and creativity of the programs and services offered throughout our parks, facilities, and the City that serve the diverse interests and needs of community members of all ages; and WHEREAS, we also acknowledge the invaluable contribution of the Community and Recreation Services Maintenance and Public Works staff who are instrumental in maintaining, repairing, and enhancing the parks, community centers, and other facilities to ensure these spaces remain safe, welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant places where residents can gather, learn, play, and connect; and
WHEREAS, the City of Union City recognizes the long-term and overall benefits and value of parks, community centers, and recreation programs made possible by the collective work of our City departments.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Union City does hereby proclaim July 2026 as National Parks and Recreation Month in the City of Union City.
