RESOLUTION NO. 2026-XXX
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNION CITY AMENDING THE 2026 CALENDAR YEAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
SCHEDULE TO CANCEL ALL REGULAR MEETINGS IN AUGUST 2026
WHEREAS, Union City Municipal Code section 2.04.010 requires the City Council to set the day and time of its regular meetings by resolution; and WHEREAS, Union City Municipal Code section 2.04.040 authorizes special meetings to be called by the presiding officer or by a majority of the City Council; and WHEREAS, on September 9, 2025, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2025- 124 setting the 2026 calendar year City Council meeting schedule, which retained the August 11, 2026 regular meeting and canceled the August 25, 2026 regular meeting; and WHEREAS, a separate item later on the July 28, 2026 agenda requests City Council consideration of an updated City Council Handbook that includes a policy providing for an annual August legislative recess; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to cancel the August 11, 2026 regular meeting, thereby eliminating regular City Council meetings in August 2026 while preserving the ability to call a special meeting if necessary.

Amended 2026 City Council Meeting Schedule
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Union City hereby amends Resolution No. 2025-124 by canceling the August 11, 2026 regular meeting and adopts the revised 2026 calendar year City Council meeting schedule set forth below. All other meeting dates remain unchanged, and special meetings may be called in accordance with applicable law.
