RESOLUTION NO. 2026-XXX
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNION CITY
APPROVING A TWO-YEAR INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR
AGREEMENT WITH FRANK MONGE, IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $260,000, TO PROVIDE YOUTH BASKETBALL SERVICES
WHEREAS, the Community & Recreation Services Department contracts with several independent contractors to provide a variety of recreational programs for the community; and
WHEREAS, the City has been utilizing Frank Monge as an independent contractor to provide year-round youth basketball classes, camps, clinics, and training services for several years; and
WHEREAS, Frank Monge's contractual services serve over 600 youth and generate approximately $130,000 in gross annual revenue for the City, of which he receives 70% to help cover the cost of his coaches, fees, uniforms, supplies, and other program-related expenses; and
WHEREAS, the City receives 30% of that gross annual revenue, which is approximately $39,000, and these funds are deposited into the Community and Recreation Services Revolving Enterprise Fund that pays for expenses for the Youth Sports programs, including staffing, supplies, and other expenses as needed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Union City hereby approves a two-year Independent Contractor Agreement with Frank Monge, in a total amount not to exceed $260,000, to provide youth basketball services; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Union City hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute the Agreement in a form approved by the City Attorney.
