RESOLUTION NO. 2026-XXX
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNION CITY
APPROVING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CLASSIFICATION OF
MAINTENACE III – PARKS AND GROUNDS, APPROVING A SIDE
LETTER AND APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CITY’S
CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION PLAN AND SALARY
SCHEDULE TO INCLUDE THE MAINTENACE III – PARKS AND
GROUNDS CLASSIFICATION IN CONFORMANCE WITH CALIFORNIA
CODE OF REGULATIONS, TITLE 2, SECTION 570.5
WHEREAS, the City has undertaken an inquiry and recommend that the City Council approve the establishment of the classification of Maintenance III – Parks and Grounds; and
WHEREAS, City staff has undertaken an analysis of necessary updates to the classification and compensation plan to establish the class specification for the classification of Maintenance III – Parks and Grounds; and WHEREAS, the City Council has identified in the Strategic Plan Goal B, Governance and Organization Effectiveness to align critical city services with current staffing levels by ensuring the accuracy and clarity for the classification of Maintenance III – Parks and Grounds; and
WHEREAS, the City has met and conferred with Service Employees’ International Union (SEIU) Local 1021 and recognizes the classification of Maintenance III – Parks and Grounds as a classification within SEIU; and
WHEREAS, a revision to the Classification and Compensation plan and Salary Schedule is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Union City hereby approves the establishment of the classification of Maintenance III – Parks and Grounds, attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, effective September 8, 2026.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes a revision to the classification and compensation plan to provide the following compensation for the Maintenance III – Parks and Grounds classification:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Union City hereby authorizes the City Manager to take such further actions as may be necessary to implement the class specification for the classification of Maintenance III – Parks and Grounds and authorizes the City Manager to execute a side letter with SEIU recognizing Resolution No. 2026-XXX
Establishing Maintenance III – Parks & Grounds Classification and Salary Schedule
Maintenance III – Parks and Grounds as a represented classification in a form approved by the City Attorney.
