RESOLUTION NO. 2026-XXX
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNION CITY AMENDING THE BUDGET TO APPROPRIATE $10,000 FROM THE
UNION LANDING PROPERTY IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT FUND
TOWARDS MARKETING AND PROMOTION FOR THE 2026 SAMASAMA FEST AT UNION LANDING WHEREAS, the inaugural Sama-Sama Fest was held on October 11, 2025, at Union Landing Shopping Center. The event was hosted by the Union Landing Property Owners Association (ULPOA), with Community Strong Strategies providing event organization and Moveable serving as the promoter and event producer; and WHEREAS, the event was developed in part to provide additional community events for Union City residents, which is a priority identified by the City Council and Mayor; and
WHEREAS, the inaugural event attracted more than 4,500 attendees from Union City and throughout the greater Bay Area, including the Peninsula and Central Valley; and
WHEREAS, Union Landing is the City's largest generator of sales tax revenue, contributing more than $2.5 million annually to the City's General Fund; and WHEREAS, the Union Landing Property Owners’ Association (ULPOA) requires an additional $10,000 to host the 2026 Sama-Sama Fest; and WHEREAS, the City has available and unappropriated funding in available reserve funds within the Union Landing Property Improvement District Fund that can be used for marketing and promotion in Union Landing; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to appropriate $10,000 from reserve funds in the Union Landing Property Improvement District Fund for marketing and promotion for Sama-Sama Fest 2026.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council approves an amendment to the budget to appropriate $10,000 from the Union Landing Property Improvement District (PBID) Fund for marketing and promotion for the 2026 Sama-Sama Fest.
