PROCLAMATION
Recognizing September 2026 as
National Preparedness Month
WHEREAS, National Preparedness Month is observed each September to encourage people to prepare for emergencies at home, at work, and in their communities; and WHEREAS, the 2026 theme, “Americans Stand Ready,” reminds us that preparing our households also helps protect our neighbors and supports our first responders; and WHEREAS, residents can prepare by making an emergency plan and packing a kit with water, food, medicine, and other supplies for their household and pets; and WHEREAS, signing up for AC Alert helps residents receive local emergency warnings, safety instructions, and updates when they are needed; and
WHEREAS, the Union City Community Emergency Response Team helps residents prepare for disasters through public education and training in basic response skills.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Union City does hereby proclaim September 2026 as National Preparedness Month in the City of Union City and encourage everyone to review their emergency plans and take part in local preparedness activities.
