FROM:
SUBJECT: Correction to add attachment to Consent Item 8.E On December 19 and 26, 2023, the City advertised in the Vallejo Times-Herald newspaper a list all outstanding, unclaimed checks that were more than three years past the date written. Claimants were allowed a period of 45 days to file a notice with the City to request those unclaimed fuds, after which all remaining monies become the property of the City.
After processing claim requests and reissuing valid checks, the City is left with 431 stale-dated checks amounting to a balance of $104 ,181.40. These checks can now be voided, and this money can be transferred back into the funds from which the money was originally drawn.
Pursuant to California Government Code Sections 50050 through 50056, the City of Vallejo is required to follow a set policy and procedure to escheat unclaimed funds.
Please accept this memo as record of correction to add attached City advertised list of Unclaimed Funds to Staff Report Consent Item 8E, as actual advertisement was not included on original submittal.
Thank you.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT, pursuant to California Government Code §50051, the Finance Director of the City of Vallejo, County of Solano, State of California, declares that the following monetary sums have been held by the Finance Director and have remained unclaimed for a period of over three (3) years. These funds will become the property of the City of Vallejo on the 2nd day of February, 2024, a date not less than forty-five (45) days after first publication of this Notice.
Any party of interest may, prior to the date designated herein above, file a claim with the Finance Director which includes the claimant’s name, address, amount of claim, the grounds on which the claim is founded, name on the check, check date, and amount shown in this notice. The Finance Director may accept or reject any claim. If rejected by the Finance Director, the party submitting the claim may, within fifteen (15) days of receiving notice of rejection, file and serve on the Finance Director a verified complaint seeking to recover all, or a designated part, of the unclaimed funds.

festival, can attract thousands of
tourists to a city, benefiting local
hotels, restaurants, and shops.
Additionally, events can assist in
promoting Vallejo and the region as
a destination, resulting in future
economic benefits.
