Discussion and Direction
on Council Referrals
BACKGROUND
• City Council referrals are miscellaneous projects that Council directs staff to undertake.
• The current referral process is:
• Council Member requests to agendize consideration of
a referral at a future Council meeting
• City staff agendizes the referral for direction on
whether to scope (“Step 1”)
• If approved, City staff develops and presents a scope at a subsequent meeting (“Step 2”)
• If approved, City staff implements the scope

RECOMMENDATION
• City Council direct staff to provide
scopes for the four referrals
awaiting scopes from staff at a
Council meeting in October
• City Council reviews the eighteen
referrals that are pending Council
direction on scoping, eliminate
any that are no longer relevant,
and direct staff to provide scopes
for those still relevant at a
Council meeting in November
NEXT STEPS
• Council direction on when staff will present the scopes for the four referrals awaiting scopes from staff
• Council direction on which of the eighteen referrals
awaiting Council direction on scoping to move forward
and on when staff will present those scopes
