Commission and Committee Appointments (Continued from June 6, 2023) Recommendation
Appoint one environmental representative to the Green Vernon Commission (GVC) (partial term June 20, 2023 to June 30, 2024).
Background
At the June 6, 2023 Regular City Council Meeting, the Vernon City Council voted to defer appointment of the Environmental Representative to the Green Vernon Commission in order to receive more information on the qualifications of the two applicants, Johncito “John” Peraza and Alfred Mejia.
On June 8, 2023, Mr. Peraza informed City staff that congressional staff rules prevent him from serving on a commission or issue area to which he is assigned and he, therefore, withdrew his application.
Applicant Alfred Mejia submitted additional information on his qualifications (Attachment 2).
Fiscal Impact
There is no fiscal impact associated with this report.
