RE: Certificate of Occupancy Permit Number: COO-2025-0457 Dear Vernon Community Fund Grant Committee:

LA Opera, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, respectfully requests consideration for a Vernon CommUNITY Fund Grant to offset city fees associated with LA Opera’s storage facility in Vernon.

LA Opera is pleased to submit this Letter of Intent outlining the free arts education and engagement opportunities the company can offer to Vernon community members.

LA Opera’s mission is to serve the public by producing world-class opera that preserves, promotes, and advances the art form while embodying the diversity, pioneering spirit and artistic sensibility unique to Los Angeles. Founded 39 years ago, LA Opera is committed to reflecting the vibrant culture of our diverse and creative city through inventive productions that reinvigorate classic operatic repertoire and introduce electrifying new works. During a typical season, LA Opera presents 50 performances on its mainstage at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles and through its innovative Off Grand productions, attended by over 100,000 audience members throughout the season.

LA Opera Connects community and learning department provides a wide range of initiatives to broaden performing arts access and participation for more than 130,000 K-12 youth, college students, seniors, veterans and other community members across LA County annually, especially in communities with limited cultural resources.

LA Opera is pleased to offer the following opportunities for the Vernon community to experience the art of opera.
• Opera for Elementary Students – We invite Vernon Elementary School to attend a spring 2026 Elementary Student Matinees performance of German Opera Tales – a musical adventure created especially for elementary-age students, featuring unforgettable music by Humperdinck, Mozart, and Wagner. German Opera Tales will be presented in two performances (10:00am and 11:30am) at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion Thursday, March 12, 2026 and Friday, March 13, 2026.
• Community Circle Tickets for Mainstage Performances – Free or $10 tickets to mainstage performances at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion will be made available to Vernon non-profit organizations and community groups, including those serving seniors, veterans and youth.
• Recitals – LA Opera Connects works with community partners to present special recitals at various venues and select civic events.

LA Opera would like to extend its appreciation to the City of Vernon for its welcoming support and partnership. Should you have any questions regarding this Letter of Intent, please contact me at 213- 972-3012 or [email protected].

Sincerely,

Joslyn Treece
