This document presents Sulzer’s firm price proposal for a complete OVERHAUL of one (1) Sulzer MC 100-300, seven-stage multistage boiler feed water pump for the City of Vernon. The pump was received and fully disassembled and inspected at the Sulzer Los Angeles Service Center following a thrust-bearing failure. This scope covers a new OEM shaft and balance drum, reconditioning and individual balancing of the seven (7) impellers, reconditioning of the diffusers, heads and stuffing boxes, bearing-housing machining and bearing renewal, mechanical-seal repair at third party, a complete O-ring and hardware set, full rotor and assembly balance, and reassembly with VCI preservation and a repair data book.
This proposal is organized in three sections:
Section 1 – Scope of Work: the complete overhaul performed at the Sulzer Los Angeles Service Center.
Section 2 – Parts & Materials: the components and materials Sulzer will supply or recondition under this scope.
Section 3 – Pricing Summary: the budgetary price, with labor and parts & materials broken out.

SECTION 1: SCOPE OF WORK
INCOMING INSPECTION & TEARDOWN
Gather all components, complete the required inspection forms, and lay out the job; record the asfound condition with photographs. Issue an as-found dimensional report of all rotating and stationary parts (teardown and inspection already completed at LASC).
SHAFT & ROTOR
Supply and install a new OEM shaft; the existing thrust-end shaft is spent and welded to its mating parts (thrust bearing and Inpro seal sleeve) and cannot be reused — addresses the reported thrustbearing failure and heat damage. Inspect the new shaft prior to build. Supply and install a new balance drum (piston); the existing drum is galled, bent and pitted in the bore. Verify OD running clearance to the liner (.012 confirmed good). Build the rotor and perform a hydraulic-nut check; record before-and-after T.I.R. Grinding all seven (7) impeller hub and eye rings and stone/granding the impeller bore faces to restore OEM fits; address the cavitation indications found on the No. 1 impeller inlet vanes.
DIFFUSERS & COVERS
Polish the diffuser wear rings and stone the sealing faces and vanes as required (six (6) diffusers). Verify diffuser-to-cover fits (.0005–.001 tight) and the cover-to-cover / cover-to-head metal-to-metal fits (confirmed good).
HEADS & STUFFING BOXES
Sandblast the suction and discharge heads; chase and tap all threaded holes, hand-hone/stone all critical sealing faces, and polish the head wear rings. Sandblast and stone the T.E. and D.E. stuffing-box faces.
BEARING HOUSINGS
Set up and mill-check both bearing housings complete (thrust-end housing heated for the check). Drill and tap the tri-cock nipple fittings from 1/4” NPT up to 1/2” NPT (T.E. & D.E.). Replace all four (4) Inpro bearing isolators and Glyptal-coat the housing internals and end covers. Install a new SKF 214EC radial bearing and new SKF 31312 J2 thrust bearings (These bearings are required with preload sleeve made by SKF in France)
MECHANICAL SEALS
Remove and send the two (2) mechanical seals to Third part for repair/reconditioning (priced budgetary pending the repair quote).
BALANCE
Individually balance the seven (7) impellers and dynamically balance the complete rotor assembly (4W/N at 3600 rpm) to ISO 1940 grade G2.5; record final T.I.R.
ASSEMBLY, TEST & SHIPMENT
Wire-wheel the tie rods and nuts; complete final assembly to the OEM stack-up and re-check flatfoot.

The teardown and dimensional inspection are complete; this proposal reflects the as-found scope. Materials are confirmed against the pump nameplate / OEM references; parts beyond those listed in Section 2 (e.g., new wear rings or diffusers) are not included and would be quoted separately if inspection requires.

Preservation:
Sulzer LASC applies VCI corrosion-inhibitor preservatives to 100% of the equipment it services and delivers. This protects machined and unpainted surfaces against oxidation for up to four (4) weeks when the equipment is stored in a covered, climate-controlled environment. A re-preservation service is available for longer storage periods.
Witness / Hold Points:
If the Customer wishes to witness any stage of the repair process, the agreed delivery time may be adjusted. Witnessed inspections and hold points are scheduled according to Customer availability, and any resulting waiting time is reflected in the final delivery date.
Exclusions / Clarifications:
The new OEM shaft and balance drum carry 06 week standard lead time from the OEM subsupplier; New wear rings, diffusers, sleeves or impeller repairs beyond the items listed in Section 2 are not included.
Hydrostatic testing of the casing is not included in this scope. Pricing is based on the completed as-found inspection and is subject to revision if additional damage is identified during rebuild.
