A PROCLAMATION OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RECOGNIZING OCTOBER 4 -10, 2026, AS PUBLIC POWER
WEEK, PUBLIC NATURAL GAS WEEK, AND CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK WHEREAS, Public Power Week, Public Natural Gas Week, and Customer Service Week are celebrated annually during the first full week of October to recognize the importance of community-owned electric utilities across the United States, as well as the value of customer service and the dedication of individuals who serve and support customers daily; and
WHEREAS, Vernon Public Utilities provides reliable, efficient, competitive rates, and safe electric and natural gas services to our community, relying on the dedication, empathy, and professionalism of utility employees and customer service and support professionals; and
WHEREAS, Vernon Public Utilities is a valuable community asset that contributes to the well-being of local citizens through reliable electric and natural gas services, energy efficiency, outstanding customer service, environmental protection, economic development, and safety awareness; and
WHEREAS, Excellence in service strengthens the Vernon community, increases consumer confidence, and drives forward the City's ongoing mission to promote a business-friendly environment while providing excellent public services and support for the community; and
WHEREAS, the employees of Vernon Public Utilities go the extra mile each day to provide safe and reliable utility services, solve complex challenges, strengthen customer trust, and embody the department's core values; and
WHEREAS, Vernon Public Utilities is a dependable and crucial asset to the City whose local operations provide numerous consumer protections and continuously work to make the City of Vernon a better place to live and work.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, ON BEHALF OF ITS EMPLOYEES, RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES HEREBY DECLARE OCTOBER 4-10, 2026 AS PUBLIC POWER WEEK, PUBLIC NATURAL GAS WEEK, AND CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK. THIS
PROCLAMATION IS BEING PRESENTED TO VERNON PUBLIC UTILITIES BY THE HONORABLE
