Why We Sweep Our Streets
Using street sweepers is more than just for aesthetic purposes Keeps storm drains clear of debris & reduce the potential for flooding
Prevents pollutants from reaching storm drains and water courses Requirement of State Water Resources Control Board MS4 Permit Removes sediment, metals, petroleum products, trash, broken asphalt, and vegetation which accumulate on streets
Keeps curbs and sewer drains clear of leaves, dirt, mud, nails, glass and other things that can be hazards
Maintains the health and hygiene within the City
Maintains a clean city environment, improving the overall quality of life for residents
Removing dirt, grit, and debris from the streets keeps them in better condition longer
