There is no fiscal impact at this time.
Background:
At the December 20, 2022, Council Member Bob Harriman made a motion to bring forth an agenda item regarding Planning Commission stipends at the January 17, 2023, meeting. The motion was seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Becerra and passed with Council Member Gomez voting “No”.
Discussion:
Following the approval, staff requested total compensation information for Planning Commissioners from the same nine (9) cities that were surveyed for the total compensation survey completed October 5, 2021, for City Council stipends. These nine (9) cities selected for the survey have a similar population to the City of Victorville. Due to a lack of response to the initial request, staff included additional cities to provide a larger sample. A total of thirteen (13) Cities/Towns responded to the request, and eleven (11) provide a stipend.

The City of Victorville Resolution No. 06- 156, that was approved September 19, 2006, reads as follows:
• SECTION 2. The rate of compensation for each member of the Victorville Planning Commission shall be One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) for each regular meeting and Seventy -Five Dollars ($75.00) for each adjourned meeting, not to exceed Three Hundred Seventy-Five Dollars ($375.00) per month. • SECTION 3. Compensation for each member of the Victorville Planning Commission shall follow staff policy on all other reasonable expenditures incurred while in the performance of the duties of said Planning Commission.
