Engineering Department
Q3 REPORT 2024
January 1, 2024 through March 31, 2024
Welcome to the inaugural Engineering Department
Quarterly update for the third quarter of Fiscal Y ear2024. We are working very hard to deliver many infrastructure projects this calendar year, but for my initial discussion, I wanted to pay our respects to our former City Engineer, Mr. Brian W.

Gengler, who sadly passed away on March 16th.

Brian retired in September 2023 after having served the City of Victorville for 22 years. He joined the City as our Traffic Engineer in 2002 and was promoted to Assistant City Engineer just six months later. Brian served as our City Engineer for 11 years prior to his retirement. Brian's career in public service spanned 34 years with prior service to the cities of Hermosa Beach, Loma Linda, and Big Bear Lake.

Brian was a tremendous part of our success and had a
huge impact on our City. He oversaw major infrastructure projects like the Green Tree Extension and Bear Valley Road Bridge Widening as well as the La Mesa/Nisqualli
Interchange, and the Nisqualli Road Reconstruction.

Brian was a great engineer, mentor, and friend. In the
words of one of our Public Works Inspectors, “It was an honor to walk this Earth with him. He will be very truly missed. The High Desert owes him a thank you and will be less of a place without him.” Brian thank you for the great projects that you delivered to the City of Victorville, but most importantly for taking the time to mentor the engineers in our office. We will continue to work hard (as you did) to deliver quality projects to our residents in your honor.
