are easy to sanitize and feature a heavy
gauge fiberglass base with a quality
non-slip finish, glass doors, stainless
steel walls and a drainage system allowing
kennels to be plumbed in series. Each

You can't change a dog's past,
but you can rewrite the future.
-Agnes Carass
Many animals under our care were
previously roaming our streets
extensively or have escaped
neglectful situations at their past
home. Many come in caked in dirt
or with painful thick mats covering
most of their bodies. Animal
Care staff have been working hard
to care for these pets in an efforts
to increase their changes for
adoption.

As shown below, officers
removed the extensive matting and
dirt form the animal allowing the
animal to see and do away with
unnecessary coat weight. Baths
also provide enrichment and
increase chances of adoption.

Our sincerest appreciation for the wonderful
community members and businesses that
graciously donate to the shelter animals.

Blankets, treats, and comfy beds were
provided Deb Bloom and Friends and
Operation Blankets of Love to maximize
comfort as we enter firework season.

Sprinkle & Sweep, a business located in
Victorville, kindly donated 4 ounce bags of
their absorbent pet cleanup and odor
eliminator product which will be provided in a
pet starter kit for adopters.

Animal Licensing and Microchips
Victorville residents have been enthusiastic about the free licensing opportunity for first time dog licenses with microchips. New dog license applications continue to rise. In June, the free license program was approved to be continued until the end of 2024.

Animal Control staff continue to offer free license and microchipping clinics and have moved the dates from Thursdays to select Saturdays to allow more residents to partake in the program. Dogs already having a microchip can be licensed anytime during business hours at the Animal Care & Control Office on Amargosa.

Since the beginning of the program in June of 2023, more than 1, 650 animals have been microchipped by Animal Care & Control staff. A microchip is implanted with a quick shot usually done at the nape of the pet ’s neck. Microchipping your pet has been shown to increase the return to owner rate by nearly 75%. 450
