Discussion and possible action to place a recurring item on the agenda to decide whether the Council wishes to adjust its compensation

Background:
At the City Council meeting of November 5, 2024, it was moved by Council Member Jones with majority approval to agendize an item for discussion and possible action wherein the council could consider whether to place a recurring item on the agenda every year for Council to decide whether it wishes to adjust its compensation within the confines prescribed in law.
Discussion:
This item is being presented to Council so that Council can further discuss whether to place a recurring item on the agenda every year for the Council to decide whether it wishes to adjust its compensation within the confines prescribed in law. To facilitate the conversation, Ordinance 2451, Senate Bill 629 along with the staff report from the September 17, 2024, City Council meeting has been attached. As it currently stands, the City Council stipend is approved to increase from $1,200 to $1,900 per month in December 2024 after the certification of election results.
