Possible cancellation of the Regular City Council Meeting of January 7, 2025 Recommendation:
Any action is at the discretion of the City Council.

There is no fiscal impact associated with this item.
Discussion:
Since 2012, the City Council has regularly cancelled the first meeting in January due to City Hall being closed for the holidays. This year, City Hall will be closed beginning Tuesday, December 24, 2024, and reopening on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
Due to the closure of City Hall for the holidays, staff would not have ample time to prepare the agenda and meet Brown Act requirements along with any public hearing advertising.
If the City Council chose not to cancel the January 7, 2025, Regular City Council meeting, a draft agenda would have to be prepared and submitted for City Manager review by December 31, 2024, and a final agenda would have to published by January 2, 2025. The aforementioned dates include a City Hall closed date and a date that staff is scheduled to return from the holiday break.
Pursuant to Chapter 3, Section III B of the City Council Policy and Procedure Manual, any regular or special meeting of the Council may be cancelled in advance by a majority vote; therefore, staff recommends cancellation of the January 7, 2025, meeting.
