Economic Development Newsletter – FY25-26 Q1 & Q2
Recommendation:
That the Honorable City Council review and file the attached Economic Development Quarterly Newsletter.

There is no fiscal impact associated with this item.
Strategic Plan Goal:
This item aligns with Strategic Plan Goal C: Community and Economic Development. The Economic Development Department will continue to present these reports to the Council and the community to attract new businesses, retain existing businesses, and provide updates on the City’s economic growth.
Background:
As part of the City’s Strategic Plan, Goal C, Strategy 7 (attract new businesses and retain existing ones), the Economic Development Department works year-round to support business growth through targeted marketing efforts, relationship building, and the pursuit of new development opportunities. To support business retention, the Department actively engages with local business owners to strengthen relationships between the business community and City staff. Economic Development Staff also promote Shop Local campaigns to encourage residents to support local businesses and help strengthen Victorville’s economy. To highlight these efforts and accomplishments, Staff provides a quarterly Economic Development Newsletter to the City Council as an update on local economic activity and achievements.

Discussion:
As part of our ongoing efforts to achieve the strategies outlined in the adopted Strategic Plan for Community and Economic Development, this newsletter will summarize recent key projects and programs. The City’s Economic Development Department will provide quarterly updates to present key departmental activities, highlights, and operational performance indicators. Staff remain available for any questions you may have.
